Our text is 2 Peter 1: 1-4, where we read that we are partakers of the divine nature through the promises of God. All things that pertain to live and Godliness have been given to us through the exceeding great and precious promises. We are said to have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Some things in the bible make an interesting substance for meditation.

This one here says we have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust and another portion says if we sow to the flesh we will of the flesh reap corruption. (Galatians 6:8 refers to sowing in the spirit as well as to the flesh as options we have before us.) It looks like a provision or availability in the spirit is declared then our actions determine their manifestations on earth. The same is true with the declaration that we have the mind of Christ and then we are instructed to have the spirit of our minds renewed.

Everything available to us in God exists in a promise form. Our actions of obedience and yeildedness determine when, how and what happens in our lives. To learn some dynamics of faith and how it relates to the promises, we need to check the Hebrews account of the hall of fame of faith heroes in the bible. In Hebrews 11:8-9, we read “by faith he (Abraham) dwelt in the land of promise” hence our theme in this study. He went to a place not knowing where he was going. I believe he knew where he was going but did not know what would obtain there. In verse 13, we read that they laid hold of the promise. True faith’s focus is to see God’s will done on earth and His purposes fulfilled. True faith is practiced in the light of intimacy with God, not independent of Him.

The truth we embrace determines the position we take in the Spirit. The position we are is determined by our mindset. When a man takes the word as final authority and submits to the authority of it in his marriage relationship and agrees to love his wife as Christ loved the church, he takes a position in that relationship that makes it possible for God’s grace to get to him in handling challenges in his marriage. So to move to the land of promise means we start moving internally by the reality that those promises convey to our minds.

Faith is not faith until it affects our lifestyle, our mindset and our words and actions.

In Hebrews 11:13 we see some dynamics that will help us come into this land where promises come to pass. They received the promises; they saw them afar off; were assured of them; they embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. They were dancing to the tune different from what obtains in the earth around them. They were operating at another frequency from what others were operating under. We can have protection in danger according to psalm 91, health in sickness, and total wellness in the face of breakdowns. As you release your faith it allows God’s grace to flow to you.

Put His Word first place- do not give the problems the final authority in your life. Faith begins where the Word is known as it comes by hearing and by hearing the Word of God.

God’s will is seen in the ministry of Jesus Christ, He said He came to do the will of the Father. (John 6:38 refers, and in Matt. 6:10 He prayed that the will of God be done on earth as it is in heaven). Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil as read in 1 John 3:8 and a major work of the devil is sin.

Plant the seed of the Word. Base your faith on the Word not sight or feelings. See proverbs 4: 20-22. Faith changes things in the physical realm. Agree with God’s Word and your heart and mouth connection release your faith in the promise and in the One who gave it. Speak the end result. The spirit of faith speaks what is believed. Faith will reach out and grab the anointing of God to effect changes in whatever needs to change.

Meditation in the Word builds your capacity for faith. What you believe matters. If you are used to believing God’s Word, then give yourself time to practice on things that are not life threatening. Do not wait for things to go wrong before you start practicing living by faith. Set goals that will grow your faith and cause it to be on production phase. Get into the Word and let the Word get into you so much that you will only flow with what is in abundance in you. The land of promise is the land where all God’s promises are Yes and Amen. That land is in Christ for you. You are to work out what God has worked in for you. Being IN CHRIST is being in the land of promise. Dig into all that belongs to you in the Word and make them come to pass in your life. Welcome to the LAND OF PROMISE, IN CHRIST.
