» ROAD MAP TO SPIRITUAL MATURITY (Part 2)
Marks of ‘spiritual’ immaturity:

1 Corinthians 3:1-7
Carnal- fleshly- leaning on fleshly behaviors, thoughts, etc

Romans 8:3-6,
Envy, strife and divisions are signs of immaturity in spiritual things.

Ephesians 4:14 tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by trickery of men. From this verse of scripture we see “Instability of the soul” as another sign of immaturity.
(V15 But speaking the truth in love may grow up in all things. Truth can hurt because it confronts and when embraced will demand action in proper alignment with it.)

1 Corinthians 13:11- Speaking, before understanding and thinking- q
(Adults think and understand before speaking.)

Hebrews 5:12-14

For when the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

By reason of use, the senses are exercised to discern both good and evil. Application of the principles of God’s Word, when done regularly with train our senses to discern what is good spiritually from what is bad. That exercise is the maturing process that we must undergo.

Reasons for Spiritual Immaturity
1. The type of gospel received at salvation can determine whether the person will ever come into maturity in God. There is the need, sometimes, to lay fresh foundations in your life. If when we accepted the gospel, we embraced a watered-down version, it is not too late to correct that by reviewing what we accepted and make amendments and has our thoughts and desires to be more accurately in line with the written Word.

2. The pain of maturing may be too much. The maturing process can be painful in the flesh. Self-denial without mind renewal makes spiritual things come across as punishment without a redemptive value. If we know God loves us and wants the best for us, we will yield to His loving correction because it is in our own best interest.

3. A lack of consistency in applying the word in every area of our lives. Exercise is needed for maturity.

4. Distractions- we are usually influenced by other things that break our focus and we do not make the decisions or follow through to make progress into maturity.

5. Conflicts and contradictions are to be handled in maturity. These come up in your life and can be seen in others too!

Steps to Maturity
The will must be exercised for maturity to happen in any area of our lives.
The goal of spiritual maturity is conformity to Christ in power and character.
