The last three messages I wrote in this series of Insights when put together give a clear picture of what some degree of Divine order is in our personal lives. The messages are:

1. Honouring God with our time, talent and treasure.
2. How to stay full of the life and the Spirit of God.
3. The prosperity of the soul.

The concept of Divine order is an apostolic concept that under girds all divine activities. Why God does what He does sometimes can only be explained through understanding divine order and purposes. The story of Uzza being killed for steadying the ark of God is a classical case in point (1 Chronicles 13). When a man’s good intentions are not aligned with God’s divine order, the results he gets can be anything from catastrophe to failure. God is a God of order and if we want His fullness in our lives, we need to order our lives accordingly.

In honouring God, we learn that we are honoured by God to have Him as our heavenly Father. We have His spirit dwelling in us and our names are written in heaven. How do we respond to these? We are encouraged to honour God with our time- the commodity we all have equal share in every day-24 hours. We need to dedicate (make a quality decision) our time to God giving him a portion of it daily. We seem to be too busy to give God any meaningful time. Whatever we give our time to, we naturally have confidence in it. Whatever we are confident in we can count on to help in time of need. We spend time making money; we look to using money to meet our needs. When money and what it can buy fail us, we panic. This panic is what we see all over the world today. To have divine order in our lives is to give God first place in our lives with our time. Spend time knowing God in worship, prayers and in the study of the bible. You honour God with your time in this way. Time spent in service for God as you engage your God-given talents or skills is also honouring God. Whatever talent you have, fine tune it and serve God with it. This also is honouring God. He will honour any one who honours Him again and again. He will honour you with more opportunities to serve, more grace and power to serve Him.

Giving to God out of our treasure with a right attitude puts treasure in a place that will make it difficult for it to become our God. Our first fruits, tithes and other Spirit-led giving must be done in honour of him who gave them to us in the first place. He honours us with more opportunities to give. He gave you the power to get wealth in the first place.

In “Staying full of God’s Spirit and Life”, we established the reality of the human spirit as distinct from the soul or body. The Word of God is a carrier of His Life and the Spirit of God is the Energiser from heaven. We received the eternal life of God when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and saviour and the abundance of that life is the key to victorious living on earth. (John 10:10). Whenever people were filled with the spirit we see them speaking in New Testament. In Acts 2, as they got filled in the Spirit they began to speak in other tongues. When they got filled again in Acts 4, they spoke the Word with boldness. Ephesians 5 talks about speaking hymns and psalms and spiritual songs as a means to being filled with the Spirit. Fellowship with the Word and Spirit of God gives us the opportunity to be filled with the life and Spirit of God. With out the fullness of the life and Spirit, we find ourselves lacking in ability to do the truth we know and sensitivity to know what God is saying by His Spirit.

The soul of man is made up of his will, mind and emotions. The prosperity of the soul is possible when these faculties are brought into alignment with God’s ways of doing things. We walk in health as our souls prosper the bible says in 3john2. James 1:21 talks about laying aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness before we can receive the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls. The psalmist talks about the restoration of his soul in psalm 23. The responsibility is ours if our soul will come into alignment with God’s ways of doing things. Joshua’s instruction from God points the way for our soul to prosper. Speaking, meditation and acting on God’s Word are ways to see our souls prosper Joshua 1:8.

When we take time to find out God’s ways, purposes and plans and line up our desires and plans with them, we are ensuring His order in our lives. His blessings will never be lacking when His order is established.
